Stain-To-Paint - 8 Step Process

One of Carnival Custom Painting's specialties is painting stained woodwork, paneling and cabinets. We utilize the following 8-step process on all stain-to-paint projects to ensure coverage, consistency and quality.

All surfaces to be painted should be thoroughly cleaned and prepared. This step helps new paint to adhere to the existing surface and removes waxes, oils and protectants.

All areas in your home, including flooring, wallpaper, furnishings, etc. will be protected from start to finish by drop cloths or poly plastic. Preparation will include the removal of switch plates, vents and the filling of all nail holes.

Stained surfaces will be lightly sanded for maintenance and cosmetic consideration. Residue will be wiped clean.

All cracks along door jams, baseboards and crown molding will be caulked.

Primer will be applied. This step helps to prevent future peeling and stain bleed-through.

Once the primer is completely dry, the new surface will be lightly sanded a second time, re-caulked and spackled. Residue will be wiped clean.

Finish coat will be applied with care to ensure appropriate and uniform coverage and consistency.

Only quality materials will be used. Work will be done in a neat and professional manner by skilled crafts people who are polite, friendly and work efficiently. Work area will be neat and presentable. All excess paint will be removed and the entire work area will be clean and tidy. Touch-up paint will be labeled and left for your future convenience.
